Anwen's Wedding

     Greetings, viewers.

I've been too preoccupied to post lately, so I thought I ought to catch up.

Anwen and Johnny's wedding was quite lovely.

The day before the wedding, I helped Anwen and her mother Ella (name has also been changed) with last minute preparations.  Several of the wedding details were DIY projects, many of which Anwen located on pinterest.com.  She had assigned me the task of making the bridesmaid bouquets out of petals cut from book pages.

We left in the afternoon, and had a leisurely drive, stopping first at the beach, and then meeting up with the bride and groom's families for dinner before finding our lodge.  Incidentally, the bed was more comfortable than any I can recall sleeping in.

The day of the wedding, we arose very early, and went to the wedding site to set up and rehearse.  Gia's boyfriend (dear good boy) went and got us Starbucks coffees, while we got things organized, and the photographer took pre-wedding pictures.  The redwoods were beautiful, and made a stunning backdrop for the wedding.

We then went back to the lodges to get dressed, and finish some last-minute details.

For bridesmaid gifts, Anwen made us heart-shaped rings out of gold-coloured wire.  Isn't it pretty?

The ceremony (officiated by the groom's father) was beautiful and touching.  He began by saying that Anwen had loved Johnny at first sight, and described Johnny's romantic proposal.  The bride was gorgeous, and the groom handsome.  The young flower girl and ring bearer were very well behaved, and everything went very smoothly.  Inasmuch as I was in the wedding, I don't have any pictures of the ceremony, and will not have until I get the disk from Anwen or Ella.  I did, however, take pictures during the reception.

Here are a couple of pictures of the bride and groom's first dance.

After they had finished their first dance, Ella insisted that I dance as well.  I am not used to dancing, and certainly not in public, but I suppose it was a worthy occasion for letting my hair down, so to speak, and joining the festivities.  I danced a bit with Ella (she taught me a swing dance), and then I danced a "fairy dance" with Wren, and then I danced a sort of pseudo-waltz with Anwen, and then we all danced together, whilst I did my level-best to mimic everyone's movements.

Johnny's mother (whom I shall call Billie), made 50 individual pies (1/2 of them peach, and 1/2 blueberry), which doubled as both the wedding dessert, and the favours.

I mingled with both the bride's family and the grooms.  Everyone was very kind, and the day was a very pleasant one in general.  My family then came to pick me up in the evening, and we set off for the coast.

Thus, my first experience as a bridesmaid came to an end.  And a very interesting experience it was.  It certainly added some bustle to my usually-uneventful life.  I was honoured that my friend thought so much of me as to want me to share her special day, and I greatly approve of the choice she's made.  I couldn't think of a better man for her than Johnny.  I wish them both the very best.  I'm quite sure that their marriage will be a prodigiously happy one.
